Abolfazl Bagherinezhad has extensive work experience in the field of reservoir engineering and oil and gas field development. Abolfazl started their career in 2006 as a Reservoir Engineer at the National Iranian Oil Company. During their time there, they worked on projects in the Caspian Sea and developed static and dynamic models for offshore oil fields. Abolfazl also contributed to the optimization of the South Pars Gas Field by developing a technical-economical model.
In 2011, Bagherinezhad worked as a Reservoir Engineering Researcher and developed a new approach for well testing analysis using the Wavelet Transform technique. Abolfazl then joined the R&D group at the National Iranian Oil Company as a Senior Reservoir Engineer and Computer Programmer. During this time, they developed a Petrel Plugin for automatic reservoir history matching.
Bagherinezhad later joined Dana Energy in 2016, where they served as a Senior Reservoir Engineer and later as a Business Opportunity Manager. Abolfazl focused on field development opportunities and investment in oil and gas. Abolfazl led cross-functional teams, conducted negotiations, and prepared opportunity framing reports. Some of the major opportunities they managed include the development and operation of the Shurijeh Underground gas storage.
In 2019, Bagherinezhad worked as a Senior Reservoir Engineering Consultant at SAED, where they were part of a team analyzing production challenges in the Azar Field. Abolfazl worked collaboratively with other experts to identify uncertainties and provide solutions.

Abolfazl Bagherinezhad began their education at the Petroleum University of Technology from 2005 to 2009, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Reservoir Engineering. Abolfazl then pursued further education at Sharif University of Technology and completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Reservoir Engineering from 2009 to 2011. Abolfazl continued their studies at Sharif University of Technology and successfully obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Petroleum Engineering, specializing in the field of study from 2012 to 2017.
