Niels Peter Berg has a diverse work experience, starting in 2007 as a National Board Member for Red Cross Youth, Denmark. Niels Peter later became a senior fellow at Humanity in Action. In 2010, they joined the Danish Institute for Human Rights as a Legal Advisor, and in 2012 they became the Head of Section in the Institute's Monitoring Team. During this time, they had various responsibilities, including providing legal briefs to parliament and advising the government. Niels Peter also worked as a teacher at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Law, where they taught Fundamental Human Rights and Danish and EU constitutional law. In 2013, Niels Peter Berg joined the Danish Ministry of Defence as a Legal Advisor in International Affairs. In 2015, they started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark as a Legal Advisor, specializing in stabilisation and security policy, including disarmament, non-proliferation, and crisis response coordination. Most recently, in 2021, they became the Chief Legal Counsel at the Danish Energy Agency.
Niels Peter Berg attended Aarhus University from 2004 to 2011, where they received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in International Law and Legal Studies. Prior to that, they attended Odder Gymnasium for an unknown period of time. Before their time at Odder Gymnasium, they attended Skovbakkeskolen Odder, although the specific dates are unknown.
