Ishmael Houston-Jones is a prominent dance educator and arts consultant with extensive experience in teaching and curating. Currently serving as a part-time professor at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, and The University of the Arts, Houston-Jones focuses on movement and dance composition. In addition to their teaching roles, Houston-Jones has been the chairman of the board of directors for Ashley Anderson Dances since 2010 and curator of the DraftWork Series at Danspace Project since 2004. Houston-Jones has also contributed significantly to the dance community through freelance teaching, arts consulting, and writing, with works published in various anthologies and journals. Houston-Jones has held faculty positions at multiple institutions and has taught internationally, utilizing a foundation in improvisation and contemporary dance practices.
