Justin Cathcart

Justin Cathcart has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Justin currently serves as the Head of Virtual Production Services at Dark Slope, where they oversee the Virtual Production volume and team, as well as all aspects of their Virtual Production services and pipelines. Justin works closely with production partners, developing execution plans for shoot days and delivery. Justin utilizes various hardware and software from Optitrack, Xsens, Manus, StretchSense, Epic Games, Faceware Technologies, HTC, and others.

Before joining Dark Slope, Justin was the Owner of Circular Creative, a role they held from June 2014 to September 2020. Prior to that, they worked as the Marketing Director at Global Collective Design Inc. from November 2011 to January 2014. In this role, they led the marketing team and focused on developing digital marketing strategies and creative materials for the apparel brand. Justin also coordinated and managed teams for photo shoots, videos, and in-house creative, where they acted as the lead photographer and DP on lifestyle shoots, creating content for catalogues, website, and social media.

Earlier in their career, Justin served as the Chief Technology Officer at Just Arrived Photography from November 2009 to November 2011. In this position, they set up and managed the entire IT infrastructure, collaborated with Kodak for their in-house photo printing service, and handled the purchasing of computer, camera, and lighting equipment. Justin also trained over 40 photographers in camera and lighting techniques.

Justin Cathcart attended Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto from 2015 to 2018, where they studied Film & TV Production. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2007, they also studied Film & TV Production at Focal Point Visual Arts.
