Reza Zahiri, PhD, MBA has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Currently, they serve as the VP Innovation at DarkVision Technologies Inc. starting in June 2020. Reza is also an Advisor for Sonic Incytes Medical Corp. since 2020.
Previously, Reza worked at Clarius Mobile Health as the Director of Innovation from an undisclosed date until 2020. Reza played a crucial role in transforming the company into an innovative and value-creating organization by utilizing Design Thinking and Iterative Innovation Process. During their tenure, they led the R&D efforts for technology and value-based product development, resulting in the launch of the second generation of a product with improved features and winning innovation awards. Reza also introduced and implemented analytics and data-driven decision making, significantly growing the user base.
Before that, Reza was the Managing Director & Director of Engineering at Analogic from 2013 to 2017. Reza was responsible for leading critical departments, harmonizing the product roadmap, and allocating projects across different sites. Additionally, they worked with various teams to develop new products, refine processes, and improve overall efficiency.
Reza also held the position of Director of Engineering at BK Medical from 2013 to 2016. Under their leadership, they successfully integrated the Vancouver engineering team into the global organization and effectively stopped employee attrition. Reza also oversaw the rapid development of a new product and provided business and product development leadership.
Earlier in their career, Reza served as the Chief Scientist and Board Member at Ultrasonix from 2006 to 2017. During this period, they led the R&D and Data Scientists team, contributing to the development of advanced imaging modes and an innovative automated volumetric breast imaging product that received recognition in the industry.
In addition to their industrial work, Reza has also had a concurrent role as an Adjunct Professor at The University of British Columbia since 2015. In this capacity, they mentor and co-supervises graduate students and delivers guest lectures on various topics related to innovation, imaging, analytics, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.

Reza Zahiri earned a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Sharif University of Technology in 1999. Reza then pursued a MASc in Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of British Columbia from 2003 to 2005. Continuing their academic journey, Reza completed a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of British Columbia between 2005 and 2009. In 2007, they also had the opportunity to be a visiting graduate student at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston).
In 2019, Reza Zahiri enrolled in an Executive MBA program at Simon Fraser University, which they completed in 2021.
Additionally, Reza has obtained various certifications to enhance their professional skills and knowledge. In 2019, they received certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) from Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Reza also completed the "Leading Innovation" course at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, "The Iterative Innovation Process" course at MIT Sloan Executive Education, and the "Launching Breakthrough Technologies" course at Harvard Business School Executive Education, all in 2019. In 2018, they obtained certifications in "Data Science" and "Machine Learning & AI" from LinkedIn. Furthermore, in 2019, they earned the "Chief Technology Officer" certification from LinkedIn, and in 2018, they completed the "Ryan Holmes on Social Leadership" course, also on LinkedIn.
