Dean Madden is a Professor of Biochemistry & Cell Biology at Dartmouth College, a position held since August 2001. Madden's research focuses on the regulation of ion channel function by small molecules and protein ligands, specifically targeting the degradation of CFTR, a chloride channel associated with cystic fibrosis, through biochemical and protein-trafficking methodologies. Prior to this role, Madden served as an Independent Group Leader and Vice Provost for Research at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research from March 1997 to August 2003.
