Nuria Oliver, PhD has a diverse work experience that spans various organizations and roles. Currently, they are the Scientific Director and Co-Founder of the ELLIS Alicante Foundation. Nuria is also a Board Member of ELLIS, which focuses on promoting machine learning and AI research in Europe. In addition, they are the President of the Board of Trustees at UNED.
Previously, Nuria Oliver served as the Chief Data Scientist at Data-Pop Alliance, a global coalition on Big Data and development. Nuria also held the role of Chief Scientific Advisor at Vodafone Institute. Furthermore, they were a Fellow at the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering and served as a Member of the Industrial Advisory Board at King's College. Additionally, they were a Member of the Advisory Board at LASIGE at the University of Lisbon and a Member of the External Advisory Board at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Furthermore, Nuria Oliver has also been involved in the Valencian Innovation Agency as a Member of the Strategic Innovation Committee. Throughout their career, they have made significant contributions to the fields of data science and technology through their research and advisory roles.
Nuria Oliver, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of computer science, machine learning, and AI. Nuria obtained their PhD degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they studied from 1995 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed their BS and MS degrees in EECS at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, spanning from 1988 to 1994.
In addition to their academic degrees, Nuria also pursued language studies. Nuria obtained a ZMP degree from the Goethe Institut in an unspecified year. Furthermore, they attained a Superior Title in French from the Spanish Official School of Languages in 1993, and another Superior Title in English from the Spanish Official School of Languages in Alicante, also in 1993.
Over the course of their career, Nuria has obtained several certifications. In 1994, they received the "Becarios Fundación 'la Caixa'" certification from the Fundación 'la Caixa'. More recently, in 2021, they were awarded the "Abie Technical Leadership Award" from the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.
