Samarth Shetty

Samarth Shetty is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in the technology sector. Currently serving as Director of Engineering at Databricks since January 2021, Samarth has successfully bootstrapped and leads teams responsible for the development of the Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, and Clean Rooms products. Prior to Databricks, Samarth held the position of Director of Engineering at LinkedIn from July 2015 to January 2021, where leadership was provided for teams that developed Stream Processing, Change Data Capture, Kafka Replication, and Data pipelines, including contributions to Apache Samza. Samarth's earlier experience includes a role as Senior Development Manager at Microsoft from June 2006 to July 2015, where the focus was on building the Storage Front-End services for Azure Storage. Additionally, Samarth began a career as a Software Engineer at Microsoft, designing core components for various protocols. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Computer Science from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Mysore.
