AI Research Engineer at Dataminr

Liele Degefu's work experience begins with their current role as an AI Research Engineer at Dataminr, starting in May 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Goldman Sachs as a Software Engineer from April 2018 to January 2021.

In 2016, Liele co-founded and served as the Outreach Officer for Underrepresented Minorities in Computing, a group promoting and celebrating under-represented minorities in the computer science field. They organized outreach events with Cornell Engineering DPE and helped establish the group.

Before that, Liele worked as an Engineering Tutor at Cornell University from November 2013 to May 2017, tutoring courses such as Differential Equations, Computing in Matlab, and Electromagnetism. They also gained experience with the CUSat Satellite Project as a member of the ADCNS team, working on control systems, computer simulation, image processing, and navigation control codes.

Liele Degefu studied at Cornell University, completing a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Applied Physics/Engineering Physics in 2017. Additionally, they also obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from Cornell University in the same year.
