Robert Mathenge has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Robert started their career at Good Samaritan Hospital as an Emergency Department Nurse, where they provided care for patients with various acute illnesses. Robert then joined the University of Maryland Medical Center as an Intensive Care Nurse, where they were responsible for caring for vented and intubated patients.

In 2007, Robert joined Baltimore Crisis Response Inc as a Mobile Crisis Team RN, delivering nursing services and expertise to patients with psychiatric urgent needs in the community and emergency department. Robert also worked at Bon Secours Health System, where they held two roles. As a Registered Nurse Project Manager/Clinical Care Leader, they were involved in initiatives to promote operational and strategic goals. Robert also served on a team that proposed legislation and health advocacy for the residents of Southwest Baltimore. As a Psychiatric Department Nurse Manager, they supervised daily routines of psychiatric nurses and managed staff development and evaluation.

In 2014, Robert joined Stevenson University as an Assistant Clinical and Adjunct Professor, where they provided feedback to nursing students in clinical settings and worked towards enriching student learning and accomplishments. Overall, Robert has a strong background in nursing and has experience in various healthcare settings.

Robert Mathenge has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from the University of Maryland, which they obtained between the years 2005 and 2007. Robert later pursued further education at the same institution and completed a Master of Nursing degree in Registered Nursing, Nursing Administration, Nursing Research, and Clinical Nursing in 2012. Additionally, they also earned a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree in Public Health/Community Nurse/Nursing from the University of Maryland in the same year.
