Marlene Arellano

Marlene Arellano has a diverse work experience. Marlene has held multiple roles at Davidson College, starting as an Admission Counselor from September 2017 to June 2019. Marlene then progressed to Assistant Dean of Admission & Director of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives from July 2019 to July 2021, followed by the role of Senior Assistant Dean of Admission & Director of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives from July 2021 to July 2022. Most recently, they have been serving as the Associate Director of Admission & Director of Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives from July 2022.

In addition to their time at Davidson College, Marlene was a Science Career Continuum Assistant at the Chicago Botanic Garden in July 2017, and an Education Intern at the Levine Museum of the New South in August 2016 and 2015. At the Levine Museum, they led tour groups through exhibits and assisted with community programming.

Furthermore, Marlene has also held roles at Davidson College as a Senior Fellow of Admissions, Apprentice Teacher for the Hispanic Studies Department, and Research Assistant for the Psychology Department. These roles involved providing information sessions about the college, teaching Spanish courses, and assisting with a bilingual literacy program for Latino parents and their children.

Marlene Arellano has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Latin American Studies from Davidson College, which they completed from 2013 to 2017. Marlene is currently pursuing an Ed.M. in Higher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, which they began in 2020 and is expected to complete in 2022.
