David M. Cole

Chief Deputy at Davis County Government

David M. Cole has extensive experience in the legal field. David M. began their career as a Litigation Associate at a private trial practice, where they handled criminal-defense cases and managed a civil trial practice. David M. then went on to work as a Trial Attorney in the Criminal Divisions of both the Utah County Attorney's Office and the Davis County Attorney's Office.

In 2000, Cole joined the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a Senior Trial Attorney, where they conducted commodities-fraud investigations and prosecuted regulatory violations. David M. also handled appeals filed with the Seventh Circuit and the CFTC.

Cole later worked for the US Securities and Exchange Commission as a Branch Chief in the Division of Enforcement. In this role, they supervised major securities-fraud investigations and collaborated with various law-enforcement agencies. David M. also trained and evaluated senior SEC enforcement attorneys.

Before leaving the public sector, Cole served as a Chief Deputy at the Davis County Attorney's Office. In this position, they supervised the operations of the Criminal Division, including senior managers, prosecutors, support staff, and victim-services personnel. David M. also handled special prosecutions and consulted on civil litigation issues.

Most recently, Cole worked as the SVP, IA CCO, and Associate Counsel at Managers Investment Group. In this role, they oversaw legal and compliance programs for an investment adviser and provided advice on regulatory and criminal inquiries. David M. also played a role in hiring, supervising, and training compliance and support staff.

David M. Cole obtained their J.D. degree in Law from BYU Law School, where they studied from 1989 to 1992.
