Heather L. R. Fountain has a diverse work experience in various industries. Heather L. R. started working as a Glass Artist for Fountain Glass in 1996. In 1997, they became an Art Education Specialist for Nashoba Regional School District, a position they held until 2002. In 2002, they became an Instructor for Art for the Elementary Teacher at Purdue University while also working as an Educational Consultant for Independent Educational Consultant, where they provided guidance and support to schools and teachers in implementing differentiated instruction and developing art integrated curriculum. From 2007 to 2019, Heather worked as a Professor of Art Education & Crafts at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where they chaired the undergraduate art education program and taught courses on integrating arts into curriculum. Heather L. R. also had a long-term involvement with Camp Oceanwood, where they served as the disABILITY Program Coordinator and Advocate, Arts Program Director, and held various other positions from 1989 to 2011. Most recently, since 2016, Heather has been working with Davis Publications as a Differentiated Instruction & disAbility Content Editor.
Heather L. R. Fountain has an extensive education history. Heather L. R. began their academic journey in 1990 at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, where they pursued a degree in Fine/Studio Arts, General as part of the Honors Program. In 1991, they transferred to the University of Maine and completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education in the span of four years.
Heather's passion for education and the arts continued to grow, leading their to attend the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1996. During their time there, they worked towards earning their Master of Education degree, specializing in Education & Arts in Education. This experience further refined their understanding and expertise in the field.
Determined to expand their knowledge and expertise, Heather returned to academia after a brief hiatus. Heather L. R. enrolled at Purdue University in 2002, where they embarked on a journey that spanned five years. During this time, they conducted in-depth research and studies, which culminated in the completion of their Ph.D. degree in Curriculum & Instruction and Art Education in 2007.
