Br. Edmundo L. Fernandez FSC completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Studio Arts Major in Painting at the University of the Philippines in 1992. Later on, he finished his postgraduate degree, Master of Education, Major in Religious and Values Education, at De La Salle University, Manila in 1999.
Br Dodo, as a young Brother, was assigned to teach religion and was a form teacher at De La Salle Lipa, which is in a quiet city south of the capital, Manila. His superiors recognized his leadership potential and he was promoted to Administrative Assistant for Upper Years the next year.
In 1996, he was transferred to La Salle Green Hills, a homecoming to his alma mater. He worked as head of the Campus Ministry Team which eventually evolved into the Directorship of the Center for Spiritual Development (equivalent to Vice Principal for Lower Years).
From 1998-2001, after having taken care of the pastoral needs of the entire school, he was asked to oversee the supervision of form teachers and student discipline as Assistant Principal for Lower Years.
Aside from being a manager in the IMC of various schools in the Philippines and acting President of De La Salle College of St. Benilde for one year, Br. Dodo's last formal school ministry would be in La Salle Green Hills.
From 2001 onwards his ministry would focus on the life of the Brothers, animating their training and formation, and guaranteeing that Brothers stay true to their mission of giving a human and Christian education to the young, especially to the poor.
He was Director of Postulants and Scholastics (Candidates and Brothers in Training) from 2001-2004. Concurrently he was Auxiliary Visitor of the District of the Philippines. In 2004 he was appointed Visitor of the District of the Philippines; he was the last Visitor of the District of the Philippines.
In 2011, various sectors and districts in the East Asia decided to come together to share resources and help each other. Br. Dodo was chosen to be the First Visitor of the Lasallian East Asia District. He was re-appointed for a second term last 2014.
At the end of his term in 2019, he was appointed to two institutions, La Salle Green Hills and the De la Salle-College of St. Benilde in the Philippines, where he continues to hold the post as President, up to the present.
