Michiel Smeding

Michiel Smeding is a seasoned technical director and operational manager at de Zoncorporatie since October 2022, with previous experience as a project engineer at Defensie Materieel Organisatie from December 2019 to October 2022. Prior to this, Michiel held several roles at the Ministerie van Defensie between November 2013 and December 2019, including system responsible officer for platform systems and propulsion and energy systems on navy ships, overseeing critical systems such as propulsion installations and energy management. Michiel completed a Master of Science in Sustainable Processes and Energy Technology at Delft University of Technology, following a Bachelor’s degree in Military Systems & Technology from the Netherlands Defence Academy. Academic work included a thesis on Gas Path Analysis for optimizing maintenance of the Dutch Defense gas turbine fleet.
