Jeroen de Willigen has a diverse work experience in the fields of urban design, architecture, and planning. Jeroen is currently serving as the Acting Chairman at BNA. Prior to that, they worked as a Creative Director at De Zwarte Hond, where they also held the positions of Urban Designer and Director General. Jeroen has also worked as a Supervisor in the stationsomgeving of Amsterdam Amstel for Gemeente Amsterdam. Jeroen has experience in the public sector as well, having served as the City Architect and Stadsbouwmeester for Gemeente Groningen. Jeroen has also been a board member for Europan and a coordinator for Urbanism at the Rotterdamse academie van Bouwkunst. Jeroen has contributed to the field of architecture and urban planning through various roles such as guest tutor at Academie van Bouwkunst Groningen and TU Delft, as well as being part of the selection committee for Jaarboek Landschap en Stedenbouw 2010. Earlier in their career, Jeroen worked as an Urban Planner at West 8.
Jeroen de Willigen completed their high school education at Praedinius Gymnasium from 1980 to 1987. Jeroen then pursued their undergraduate studies in architecture at Delft University of Technology from 1988 to 1996. Following that, they attended Wageningen University & Research for a year from 1987 to 1988, where they studied food technology. Later, they obtained a master's degree in City Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam, completing their studies from 2012 to 2014.
