Stephen Fransen, MD, is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Medical Officer of Lumata Health, a technology-driven healthcare startup focused on preventing blindness and addressing ophthalmology staffing challenges through an intelligent eye care management platform, established in 2017. In addition to this role, Stephen Fransen has served as a Retina Specialist at Dean McGee Eye Institute since 1990 and held the position of Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine from 1990 to 2021. Stephen Fransen completed a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and has extensive education, including a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry from the same institution.
