Jong Young Joung

Jong Young Joung is an experienced research scientist with expertise in computational chemistry, deep learning methodologies, and drug discovery. Currently serving as a Research Scientist and Team Leader at Deargen since November 2020, Jong Young Joung focuses on the discovery of novel hit compounds and hit-to-lead optimization. Prior roles include Principal Researcher at Pharos iBio, where efforts centered on structure-based drug discovery and the development of predictive models and algorithms, and Research Scientist at Syntekabio, Inc., specializing in bioinformatics and molecular modeling. Jong Young Joung's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from Yonsei University, complemented by postdoctoral research at Sookmyung Women's University and the Korea Institute for Advanced Study, where advanced modeling and simulation techniques were developed.
