Kainath Merchant

Kainath Merchant is an experienced educator currently serving as a Student Teacher at Decatur City Schools since August 2021, where responsibilities include creating and implementing mathematics lesson plans with a focus on social justice and accommodating diverse learners. Kainath has also worked as a Mathematics Tutor, teaching foundational concepts to 6th grade students. Previous roles include serving as an Americorps Member at Friends of Refugees, a Tutor at Emmaus House, and an English Teacher for Afghan refugees with the National Council India and Aga Khan Foundation India. Kainath has a background in mentoring and providing support to peers during the college application process and has experience in tutoring various subjects for middle school students. In addition to educational roles, Kainath has worked as a Technology Specialist at Emory University and conducted research in the Department of Neurosurgery. Currently pursuing a Master's in Arts of Teaching at Georgia State University, Kainath holds a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University.
