Paul Rivera

Paul Rivera has over 20 years of work experience in the IT and security industry. From 1999 to 2002, they worked as a Software Engineer at Viridian Information Solutions, where they were the team lead on integration of third-party network intrusion detection systems into CIDDS utilizing SYSLOG and SNMP features for Veteran Administration Hospital Networks. Paul also researched and tested network protocols and network applications to determine flaws and vulnerabilities, and supported management staff with development of proposals and statements of work.

From 2002 to 2005, Paul Rivera worked as an IT Security Consultant, Senior Engineer at Symantec, and Network Security Engineer at L3 Communications. As an IT Security Consultant, they assessed network security, developed risk mitigation plans and security policies for HIPAA compliance for various clients. As a Senior Engineer at Symantec, they developed an Automated Test Framework for the Intrusion Detection Signature Team. At L3 Communications, they developed Cloudshield applications in RAVE and PacketC focusing on VOIP, and was a subject matter expert in assessing web servers and web applications.

From 2005 to 2008, Paul Rivera was the President & CEO of Def-Logix, Inc., where they developed and built the company from start-up with strong, established government contracts, and commercial business. Paul also produced 100% of all new business through proposal writing, grant writing, and referrals.

Paul Rivera obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 1996. Paul then returned to The University of Texas at San Antonio and earned their Master's Degree in Information Technology/Information Assurance Concentration in 2009.
