Heather Harl is a dedicated conservation policy analyst with a strong background in environmental policy and animal husbandry. Currently employed at Defenders of Wildlife since September 2020, Heather previously served as a Climate Action & Sustainability Policy Intern for the City and County of Denver and as a Sustainability Research Intern at the World Wildlife Fund. Heather's extensive experience at the Smithsonian Institution as a zookeeper included specialized work with primates and involvement in the Species Survival Plan national working group. Heather has actively participated in public outreach, educational campaigns, and scientific research, culminating in the publication of a peer-reviewed article. Heather holds a graduate degree in Global Environmental Policy from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Physical and Biological Anthropology from Northern Arizona University.
