Pui Yu Ling

Pui Yu Ling is a skilled Conservation Data Scientist currently employed at Defenders of Wildlife, where responsibilities include leading the development of a spatially explicit interactive web tool integrated with machine learning models for various stakeholders. Prior experience includes a tenure as a Postdoctoral Scientist at WWF, focusing on natural forest regeneration and remote sensing data, and serving as a Science Consultant at Winrock International, contributing to historical land cover mapping for REDD+ projects. Additionally, Pui held the position of Biodiversity Policy Postdoctoral Fellow at IUCN, where contributions included quantifying land cover changes and supporting investment models for ecosystem conservation. Educated with a Ph.D. in Geographical Sciences from the University of Maryland and a BS in Geological and Earth Sciences from UC Irvine, Pui has a strong foundation in both research and teaching within the environmental sciences field.
