Matt C.

Matt C. has a wealth of work experience, beginning in 2001 in the service industry as an Assistant General Manager, Kitchen Manager, Bar Manager, Manager, and Bartender, where they gained valuable transferable skills in customer relations, finances, staffing, and inventory. In recognition of their leadership qualities, industry knowledge, multi-tasking ability, and business acumen, they were repeatedly and quickly promoted to multiple management positions.

In 2019, Matt C. began working as a Cybersecurity Engineer at DefenseStorm, an Information Technology Field Technician at SmartSource Technical Solutions, and a Cyber Defense Club Events Coordinator, Wicked6 Cyber Games Team Member, National Cyber League (NCL) Competition participant, Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) Team Co-Captain, and 2019 Palmetto Digital Forensics Competition (PDFC) Team Member at UNCW Cyber Defense Club (CDC).

Prior to 2019, Matt C. was a Public Affairs Representative/Photographer for the US Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, Blue Angels, from 1997-2001. During their time there, they were awarded the Blue Angel of the Quarter, Navy Achievement Medal, Admiral Letter of Commendation, and Commanding Officer Letter of Commendation. Matt also documented and promoted the Blue Angels and the Navy through photographic support, was recognized for their excellent written and verbal communication skills, and filled-in as squadron journalist and public relations first point of contact during a vacancy.

Matt C. has a diverse educational background. Matt obtained their High School Diploma from North Kingstown Sr. High School in 1996. In 2007, they attended University of Maine and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance. From 2015 to 2017, they attended Cape Fear Community College and earned an Associate of Science (AS) and an Associate of Arts (AA) in General Studies. In 2017, they graduated from University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Information Technology/ Cyber Security (CAE-CD). Matt has also obtained numerous certifications from LinkedIn and MITRE Engenuity, including ATT&CK™ Cyber Threat Intelligence Certification and ATT&CK™ Security Operations Center Assessment Certification.
