Benjamin George

Benjamin George has a diverse work experience. Benjamin started their career as a Senior Consultant at UBIT Help Desk in 2013 and worked there until 2016. In 2014, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University at Buffalo where they conducted experiments on NMDA receptor unitary properties and human transplanted OPCs. From 2015 to 2015, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute where they investigated the role of OPC glutamate receptors in disease. Benjamin then joined the National Institutes of Health as an IRTA Postbaccalaureate Fellow in 2016. In this role, they characterized hP2X2 receptor mutants associated with hearing loss and assisted in community STEM outreach. From 2019 to 2023, they pursued their graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University as a Graduate Student. There, they performed research on brain areas active during whisker stimulation in mice with a stroke model. Beginning in 2023, they joined Deka Biosciences, Inc as a Scientist I.

Benjamin George completed their Master of Science (MS) in Biology, General from Carnegie Mellon University. Benjamin pursued this degree from 2019 to 2023. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences with a Pre-Medical Concentration from the University at Buffalo. Benjamin studied at the University at Buffalo from 2012 to 2016. Additionally, Benjamin participated in a Summer Research Program in Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge in 2015.
