Nikki Lavoie

Nikki Lavoie has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Nikki started their career as an Intern/Staff Writer at the Delaware State News, where they worked from October 1998 to June 2000. After this, they worked as an Intern/Freelance Writer at Delaware Today from February 2003 to May 2003.

In 2004, Nikki joined Bank of America (formerly MBNA) as an Internal Auditor before becoming an Assistant Vice President, In-charge Auditor from June 2004 to June 2006. At Bank of America, they reviewed critical business processes, led cross-functional teams, and wrote internal reports for executive management.

From 2006 to 2009, Nikki worked as a Public Relations Specialist at the Delaware Tourism Office, where they developed and managed integrated marketing initiatives to support the state's economic development goals in tourism.

Afterward, they joined the Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO) as a Strategic Communications Manager from September 2009 to October 2012. In this role, they contributed to marketing communications and provided public relations counsel to the governor and agency leadership team.

Nikki then moved to Sallie Mae, the No. 1 financial services company specializing in education, where they held multiple roles. From November 2012 to April 2013, they worked as a Corporate Communications Manager, and from May 2013 to April 2014, they served as the Director of Corporate Communications.

Following the split from Sallie Mae, Nikki joined Navient in May 2014 as the Director of Corporate Communications. Nikki played a crucial role in driving the transformation of Navient by establishing its national brand and communication strategy. Nikki led enterprise-wide campaigns for Navient and its subsidiaries until December 2019.

Currently, Nikki Lavoie is working as the Chief Communications Officer at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), a position they have held since February 2020. In this role, they direct a comprehensive marketing communication strategy to advance the agency's mission and leads a team responsible for various communication functions.

Nikki Lavoie has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Alfred Lerner College of Business & Economics at the University of Delaware. Nikki also completed a Master of Business Administration Program at Central European University in 2017, with a focus on Global Monetary Policy and Business Ethics. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and English from the University of Delaware in 2004. In addition, Nikki Lavoie is accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), which they obtained in 2012.
