Monti Leija has extensive experience in the military and public safety fields. Monti served as a Special Forces medic and team leader in Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and Kuwait. Monti also worked as a Senior Military Advisor at the University of Arizona and as a consultant for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where they trained law enforcement agencies on large-scale military exercises, combat casualty care, hostage rescue, active shooter situations, and search and rescue missions. Monti was also the Director of Learning and Development at the Quiet Professional Group, where they strengthened the combat and tactical medical training of law enforcement, SWAT, and military teams. At Delta Development Team, Inc., they served as the CEO and led the development of rugged, mobile, and battery-operated refrigerators for temperature-controlled blood products for use on battlefields and in other extreme settings. Finally, Monti worked as an instructor, trainer, and teacher at The Public Safety & Emergency Services Institute at Pima Community College.
Monti Leija holds an Associates of Applied Science from Central Texas College. Monti then obtained various certifications including National Incident Management System from FEMA in 2017, Advanced Hazmat Life Support Instructor from Advanced Hazmat Life Support in 2015, and NAEMT Instructor from National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in 2019. Currently, they are pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing/Marketing Management, General at the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management. Prior to this, from 2018-2020, they completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership at the University of Arizona.
