Hans van Putten has extensive work experience in the field of hydrology and software engineering. Hans began their career as an Industrial Trainee at Alstom Power, where they conducted research on internal heat transfer of turbine blades. Hans then joined Delft University of Technology as a PhD candidate, completing their doctoral degree in 2007.
In 2007, Hans worked as a Software Engineer at Vortech and Alten PTS, specializing in scientific software development. Hans also joined Deltares in 2008 as a Scientific Software Engineer, and later took on roles as Project Leader/Advisor and Senior Researcher/Advisor. In these positions, they were responsible for the daily operation and organization of significant projects, including the Next Generation Hydro Software project.
Hans has since progressed within Deltares, becoming Head of the Department of Catchment and Urban Hydrology and subsequently the Head of the Department. Hans'sexpertise lies in connecting computational cores to modern UI frameworks and bridging the gap between civil engineering knowledge and IT advancements.
Hans van Putten has an extensive education history. Hans pursued a PhD from 2003 to 2007 at Delft University of Technology, specializing in Energy Technology. Prior to that, they obtained a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Twente, where they studied from 1997 to 2003. Hans completed their high school education at Lambert Franckens College (LFC) from 1991 to 1997, achieving a VWO+ degree. Hans'seducation journey began at PWA, a primary school, where they studied from 1985 to 1991.
In addition to their formal education, Hans van Putten also obtained a certification in Coaching of teams from Boertien Vergouwen Overduin in November 2014.
