Luca Carniato

Luca Carniato is a Senior Software Engineer at Deltares since May 2017, where Luca leads a team of five engineers in the development of the Deltares Grid Editor, a front-end application utilizing C# WPF and C++ libraries. Prior to this role, Luca developed an open-source C++ computational geometry library, MeshKernel, and mentored junior engineers. Luca’s earlier experience includes working as an R&D Software Engineer at Petrotechnical Data Systems, where Luca developed a C++ finite-element code for petroleum basin modeling, as well as a PhD researcher at TU Delft, conducting applied research on groundwater transport and publishing multiple influential articles. Educated at Delft University of Technology and the University of Padova, Luca holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and two degrees in Environmental Engineering.
