John S.

John S. has extensive experience in the legal and technology industry. John founded BarGraders, Inc. in 2004, the first online platform for bar exam essay test preparation, which has helped graduates from almost 200 law schools pass the California Bar Exam. In 2003, they also founded Black Letter Discovery, one of the first companies to offer document review as a managed service, serving top law firms and corporations worldwide.

In 2013, John founded the Managed Review division for Advanced Discovery, which became a leading provider of legal document review services and drove the majority of the company's growth. John also founded Managed Discovery in 2015, providing litigation support and e-discovery as a service to law firms and enterprise legal departments, leading the company to its acquisition by Oasis Discovery.

John's entrepreneurial endeavors continued with SAGO.AI INC., where as CEO and founder, they spearheaded the development, sales, and customer success for legal hold and request intake SaaS platforms. Following the acquisition of SAGO.AI INC. by CS DISCO, the acquired solutions became DISCO's flagship products for in-house legal teams.

In addition to their legal and technology experience, John worked as the Business Development Manager for Asia Law & Practice (Euromoney) in the Asia Pacific region from 1996 to 1997. Overall, John S. has a proven track record of founding and leading successful companies in the legal and technology industry.

John S. completed their Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Political Science from UCLA in an unspecified year prior to 1995. In 1998, they attended the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and received their Doctor of Law (JD) degree in 2001. During their time at the University of California, they also briefly studied China Law and Hong Kong SAR Law at The University of Hong Kong in 1999. Additionally, in 1993-1994, John studied Chinese Government & Politics and Cantonese at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is also known that they are a member of the California State Bar, although the specific year of obtaining this certification is not provided.
