Ralph Pohl

Ralph Pohl is a Senior Optical System Engineer at DEMCON Focal, specializing in the development of the Beam Conditioning and Diagnostic System for the Extremely Large Telescope. Prior to this role, Ralph held positions as an Optical System Engineer and Mechatronic System Engineer at DEMCON, as well as a Guest Researcher at Universiteit Twente, focusing on laser micro-machining and optical system design. Ralph completed a PhD in Laser Physics at the University of Twente, with significant research on laser-induced forward transfer techniques. Additionally, Ralph has teaching experience at both the University of Twente and Münster University of Applied Sciences, supervising students in various physics and engineering disciplines. Ralph's educational background includes a Master of Science in Photonics and a Diplom-Ingenieur in Engineering Physics, alongside early training as a car mechanic.
