Phyllis Hanna M.Ed. has extensive work experience in the field of special education. Phyllis started their career in 2007 as a Moderate Needs Teacher/IEP Team Lead/Transition Coordinator at the Hope Co-Op Online Academy in the Douglas County School District. In this role, they worked until 2019, gaining valuable experience in supporting students with special needs.
From 2019, Phyllis joined the Denver Public Schools and assumed the role of a Special Education Instructional Specialist. Phyllis provided specialized instruction and support to students with special needs until July 2021.
Phyllis then took on a one-year-only position as a Special Education Senior Team Lead at Denver Online, continuing their dedication to providing exceptional education to students with special needs.

Phyllis Hanna M.Ed. holds a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction/Literacy from Lesley University. Phyllis also holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education/Special Education from Northwest Nazarene University. Phyllis has earned credits from Regis University in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse education strategies. Additionally, they have obtained certifications including MLE Level 2 English/ELA-E certification from Denver Public Schools, becoming a Restorative Practices Trainer of Trainers from the International Institute of Restorative Practices, and a Colorado Professional Teaching License with endorsements in Special Education Generalist (5-21) and Elementary Education from the Colorado Department of Education.
