Denisse Villalba is from Mexico and moved to Los Angeles as a young child. She had very supportive parents who wanted her to attend college but were unfamiliar with the education system in the United States. Denisse understands the challenges that come with being the first person in the family to attend college and that subjects such as financial aid can be intimidating. She graduated from a small private college in southern California, the University of La Verne, with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and returned a year later for her Master’s degree in Educational Counseling. Throughout her career, she realized she wanted to help students navigate their way through college and was lucky to come across DSF soon after moving to Colorado.
