Lucas Vanhaelewyn

Lucas Vanhaelewyn, PhD, currently serves as Managing Director at Shanghai Flower Port Deroose Plants & EP - Exotic Plant Shanghai since February 2023 and has held the position of Director of Corporate Projects at Deroose Plants Group since May 2021. In addition, Lucas is the Chair of the Board of Directors at Ssemu Agrotech Consultants Ltd., a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Ghent University, and an Angel Investor at Vertical and Micro Gardening. Additional roles include Team Investments for Startups and Scaleups at Ondernemers voor Ondernemers vzw, and serving as an external ethical advisor for Phase 1 clinical trials at UZ Gent. Lucas also contributed as the Belgian Ambassador for the American Society of Plant Biologists from July 2018 to June 2022 and was a PhD Researcher at Universiteit Gent. With a strong educational background from Ghent University, including a PhD in Plant Biology, Lucas combines extensive research experience with leadership in various initiatives within the plant biology and biotechnology sectors.
