Heather Nerem

Mrs. Nerem is an active advocate for young children, and an enthusiastic partner with families. She is passionate about building positive cultures and servant-hearted leadership. As Early Education Director, Mrs. Nerem oversees all department programs including childcare, preschool, After-the-Bell, and summer care.

Mrs. Nerem has served in a variety of positions throughout her education career, equipping her with a unique combination of skills, insights, and rich experiences. She worked in Des Moines Public Schools as an instructional specialist and Special Educational Curriculum Facilitator, and then as Elementary Principal and Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction at Dallas-Center Grimes. She has been actively involved with MOPS (Mothers of Preschool Students) and served as the Director of Community Development for Creative Habitat, a non-profit organization that provides a co-working space for parents and a play space for preschool children.

Mrs. Nerem attended the University of Northern Iowa for both her BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education and her Masters of Education.
