Mark Peiffer

Mark Peiffer, CPA, M.B.A., joined Des Moines University as assistant controller in 1996 and was named chief financial officer in 2006 and then senior vice president and chief financial officer in 2018. He is responsible for fiscal operations, facilities management and auxiliary services and provides strategic leadership for the University.

Mr. Peiffer has more than 25 years of leadership experience, primarily within higher education, and expertise in strategic budget stewardship, financial and administrative operations, goal alignment, campus master planning and compliance. He is skilled in assessing financial performance and business opportunities and using findings to make data-driven decisions that support strategic and capital plans in a dynamic environment.

Prior to joining Des Moines University, Mr. Peiffer worked for UnityPoint Health – Des Moines and Denman & Company, LLP, a local CPA firm. He holds an M.B.A. in corporate financial management and the financial designations of certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant.
