Dr James Gourlay Beng

Dr James Gourlay BEng PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience. Dr James started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Edinburgh, where they worked on optical correlators and spatial light modulators. Dr James then moved on to Durham University as a Research Assistant, focusing on adaptive optics. Following that, they worked at Heriot Watt University as a Senior Research Associate in the Physics Department, specializing in optical computing. Dr James also served as a Lecturer in the MicroEngineering Group, where they taught computing and electrical engineering. Dr Gourlay then joined Microemissive Displays, where they served as the OLED Display Packaging Manager. Currently, they are the Technical Director at designLED Products Ltd, a Faurecia Company, where they are responsible for overseeing technical operations. Throughout their career, Dr James Gourlay has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and development in the field of engineering and optics.

Dr James Gourlay BEng PhD obtained their BEng degree in Physics and Electronics from The University of Edinburgh, where they studied from 1986 to 1990. Subsequently, they pursued their PhD in Physics at the same institution, specializing in Liquid Crystal Devices and Applications, from 1990 to 1994.
