Sylvain Messier

Sylvain Messier, CPA, ASC, C. Dir., serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Desjardins General Insurance Group since March 2014, overseeing the financial strategies of the second-largest property and casualty insurer in Canada. Prior to this role, Sylvain held various senior finance positions within the Desjardins Group, including Vice President Finance, where responsibilities included leading a comprehensive Finance Transformation Program and providing strategic financial support. Sylvain's experience also includes significant leadership roles at Standard Life, where strategic planning and financial management were key focuses, and earlier positions at CN and PricewaterhouseCoopers that solidified a robust foundation in financial operations and auditing. Sylvain holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and has pursued advanced leadership training from notable institutions, including Université Laval and McGill University.
