Kimberly Dobos Wolfe

Kimberly Dobos Wolfe has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education and public programs. Kimberly is currently employed as the Manager of Education and Public Programs at the Detroit Historical Society since September 2021. Previously, they worked at the City of Ypsilanti as an Arts Commissioner, where they collaborated with a committee to bring art programs and public projects to the city.

Kimberly also has extensive experience at the Detroit Institute of Arts, where they held multiple roles. Kimberly worked as a Coordinator of Education Programs, managing the schedule of museum docents, coordinating school tours, and providing educational experiences for museum visitors. Additionally, they served as a Program Scheduler in the Learning and Audience Engagement Department, where they continued to manage the docent schedule and provide training support. Kimberly also volunteered as an Interpretive Programs Volunteer, leading art tours and using Visual Thinking Strategies to engage visitors in deep discussions.

In their role at Pewabic Pottery, Kimberly served as a Curator/Archivist, responsible for managing the care and use of historic objects. Kimberly curated exhibits for both on and offsite audiences, showcasing Pewabic's history and impact. Kimberly also worked as a Youth Programs Coordinator, collaborating with community groups to provide educational experiences for inner-city youth.

Earlier in their career, Kimberly gained experience as a Docent Coordinator Intern at Ella Sharp Museum, where they revamped the tour template and conducted training sessions for docents. Kimberly also worked as an Infant/Learning Adventures Teacher at KinderCare and Childtime, where they cared for infants and developed programming for school-age children.

Lastly, Kimberly volunteered at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens as a Youth Programs Volunteer and Docent, giving tours of the historic house, special access areas, and gardens. Their time there also included volunteering for various programs and summer camps.

Kimberly Dobos Wolfe received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Kent State University between 2003 and 2008. Kimberly then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University from 2011 to 2013.
