Senior Director of Social Innovation & Learning at Detroit Symphony Orchestra

Karisa Antonio is an accomplished music professional and arts leader with extensive experience in social innovation and education. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Social Innovation and Learning at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Karisa leads key initiatives aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. As an independent music professional, Karisa is recognized for contributions as a chamber musician, with a focus on contemporary works, receiving a Grammy nomination in 2023. Previously, Karisa directed the Arts and Culture Department at Lantern Community, establishing successful programs in supportive housing, and managed numerous arts and education programs at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. With an academic background including a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University and a Master of Music from Yale University, Karisa also has experience as an educator and community advocate in various organizations.
