Swayamprabha Das, Ph.D has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental and sustainable development. Swayamprabha currently holds the position of Associate Vice President & Lead Policy & Planning at Development Alternatives. Prior to this, they were involved with IUCN, where they served as the Deputy Regional Vice Chair (SEAsia) for the Commission on Environmental, Economic & Social Policy (CEESP) and also held various roles within the organization. Swayamprabha has also worked as a Consultant (Policy) for the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW)/ Ministry of External Affairs, GOI. In addition, they have experience working with organizations such as UNDP, ICFRE/MoEF, LEAD India, Sierra Club, and WWF-India, where they have held different positions and contributed to a range of projects related to policy development, gender equality, sustainable land management, climate change, and marine conservation.
Swayamprabha Das, Ph.D has a diverse education background. In 1993, they obtained their MA in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Swayamprabha continued their education at the same university and earned a PH.D in International Relations in 2005. In 2007-2008, Das pursued a Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship in Natural Resources Management and Policy at the University of California, Davis. In 2005, they received a certificate from the 2nd UNEP Leadership Programme on "Environment for Sustainable Development," focusing on Leadership, Environment, and Natural Resources Management. In 2015, Das completed a Climate Change Leadership program, receiving a certificate from the Climate Reality Project. Recently, in 2021, they completed a Summer academy on Sustainable Development at the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC). Additionally, Das has obtained numerous certifications throughout their career, including courses on Sustainable Lifestyles, Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable Development, Redesigning for a Sustainable Future post-COVID, and more.
