Sarah Peterson

Sarah Peterson is a highly experienced professional in land use and sustainability, currently serving as the Land Use & Sustainability Project Manager at Detroit Future City since August 2022. Previous roles include Landscape Designer at Hamilton Anderson Associates and InSite Design Studio Inc., as well as Arboretum Caretaker at Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum. Sarah has also worked as a Graduate Student Instructor in Landscape Architecture Studios at the University of Michigan and gained valuable experience as a Landscape Architecture Intern at The Johnson Hill Land Ethics Studio. Early career roles encompass garden design and crew leadership at Bluebird Gardening Co., and urban leadership at Ecological Design, complemented by experience as a bookseller and laboratory manager/field ecologist at the University of Minnesota. Sarah holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Science in Conservation Ecology from the University of Michigan, along with a Bachelor of Science in Plant Ecology and Geology.
