In 1999, they went on to study at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering in 2003.

Building on their engineering background, Mickey pursued higher education at Stanford University School of Medicine from 2003 to 2009. During this time, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microbiology and Immunology.

In 2001, Mickey participated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at The Sackler Institute at NYU School of Medicine, offered through New York Medicine Jobs. Additionally, in 2002, they took an immunology course for transfer credit at New York University.

To enhance their skill set, Mickey engaged in further education and training. In 2016, they attended General Assembly, where they pursued studies in data science. In 2019, they undertook the LA BioStart Bioscience Entrepreneurs Boot Camp at California State University, Los Angeles. They also completed the world's leading science accelerator program at IndieBio during the same year.
