Martin Roscheisen

CEO & Founder at Diamond Foundry

Martin Roscheisen is the CEO and founder of Diamond Foundry. Martin was previously the CEO and founder of Nanosolar from April 2002 to March 2010.

Martin Roscheisen is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who has been instrumental in the development of solar power technology. Martin founded Nanosolar in April 2002 and served as its CEO until March 2010. Under their tenure, the company became the most highly valued solar power technology company backed by American venture capital.

Nanosolar was created with the goal of making solar power more affordable and accessible. The company developed a 15% efficient solar semiconductor cell that could be printed onto an aluminum foil. This innovation helped Nanosolar become a leading provider of solar power technology.

During their time at Nanosolar, Martin Roscheisen raised the largest rounds of private equity funding of any tech company worldwide in 2006 and 2008. Martin also led the team that developed a completely new semiconductor printing process technology and transformed it into a production tool that could be used in factories.

Sadly, Nanosolar did not survive the industry transformation towards the reality of grid parity solar power and Martin Roscheisen was ousted from the company by its board in 2010. However, they have rebounded with their current company, Diamond Foundry, which is quickly becoming a leader in sustainable diamond production.

Martin Roscheisen has a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and an M.S. in EE & CS from the Technical University of Munich.

Some individuals on their team include Jen Chen - Director, People Operations, Jeroen Van Duren - VP Tech Applications, and Peter Lee - General Manager, D.F. China.
