Instrument Scientist at DIAMOND LIGHT SOURCE LIMITED

Matteo Aramini is an experienced Instrument Scientist at Diamond Light Source since November 2018, specializing in the operation and development of the high-resolution XAS and XES beamline I20. This role involves user support and collaboration on Materials Science projects, utilizing advanced computational methods for interpreting X-ray spectroscopies and predicting material properties in heterogeneous catalysis and ion batteries. Prior experience includes serving as an Associate Researcher at STFC - Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, where Matteo contributed to the development of sample environments for radio-frequency chemistry experiments, and as a Research Associate at the University of Helsinki, focusing on advanced X-ray techniques for energy-related materials. Matteo holds a Ph.D. in Material Science from the University of Parma, where research involved synthesizing carbon-based materials for energy storage, and earlier worked as a Coating Engineer at Turbocoating SpA, developing thermal spray coating solutions. Matteo earned an M.Sc. in Material Science and Technologies from Università degli Studi di Parma in 2008.
