Pól Ó Dochartaigh

Pól Ó Dochartaigh, MRIA, is an Established Professor of European History at the University of Galway, where research focuses on Irish attitudes toward Jews in the twentieth century. Previously, Pól served as Deputy President and Registrar, leading academic strategy and various committees. Pól’s governance contributions include roles on the Council of the Royal Irish Academy, the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, and the National University of Ireland Senate. Pól has held significant positions such as Chair of the Board of the Student Health Unit and the Central Applications Office. Education credentials include a PhD in German literature/cultural history from the University of Nottingham and a DLitt in German Studies.
