David Erickson has a diverse work experience in academia and the private sector. David began their career at the California Institute of Technology as a Post-Doctoral Scholar from July 2004 to June 2005. Following this, they joined Cornell University in July 2005 as a Sibley College Professor. In November 2017, they took on the additional role of Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Engineering. In July 2019, they were appointed the S.C. Thomas Sze Director of the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University.
In addition to their academic positions, Erickson has held leadership roles in various companies. In January 2011, they became the Chairman of Halo Labs, Inc., serving in this role until November 2018. In January 2017, they took on the role of Chairman at VitaScan and in September 2017, they became a Co-Founder and Board Member at Dimensional Energy.
David Erickson completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, which lasted from 1994 to 2000. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto, where they studied from 2000 to 2004.
