John Mecklenburg has had a diverse range of work experience throughout their career. John started as an Associate at Platinum Venture Partners, a corporate venture capital firm, where they focused on investments in enterprise applications software and services companies. John then worked as an Editor at Red Herring Communications, overseeing their media properties.
Moving on, they joined Rutberg & Company as the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, where they played a crucial role in the firm's inception and later oversaw daily banking operations. Following this, they co-founded Quri, where they built and led the Sales & Services and Operations groups, achieving significant YoY ARR growth and managing a large team.
Mecklenburg then joined MustDeliver as an Advisor and later became the Chief Operating Officer, contributing to the company's capital raise and expanding their role to include sales management and go-to-market strategies. John continued to serve as an Advisor after stepping down as COO.
John also held leadership positions at Trax Retail, initially as the VP of Strategic Alliances and later as the VP of Strategic Alliances & Corporate Development, where they played a key role in establishing global strategic alliances and leading M&A due diligence teams.
Additionally, Mecklenburg provided advisory services to Addictive Coffee Roasters and Bulk Exchange, assisting with their product development, financial modeling, and go-to-market strategies. John also served on the board of directors at BananaBlades Corporation and currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at Direct Commerce.
John Mecklenburg attended New Trier Township High School Winnetka from 1987 to 1991. After completing their high school education, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at Colorado College from 1991 to 1995. In 1993, they also participated in a program called NOLS, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this program.
