Matthew Gies has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Matthew started their career at Whitman Ford as a Salesperson from 2000-2004. Matthew then joined Directions Credit Union in 2005 as a Branch Manager, where they managed staff and handled member interactions until 2011. From 2011-2012, Matthew worked as the Director of Operations at Bedford Alliance Church, managing site operations and providing HR support. Matthew then joined IFS as an Operations Manager from 2011-2013, where they worked closely with financial planners and clients to determine suitable insurance plans and created financial plans. At Directions Credit Union, Matthew held various positions including New Hire/Organizational Development Trainer from 2013-2015, Team Recruiting Manager from 2015-2016, Director of Training and Development from 2016-2018, VP Member Service-Michigan Markets from 2018-2020, and finally, VP Digital Channels and Member Support from 2020-2022. Matthew is currently serving as the Chief Talent Officer at Directions Credit Union, starting in June 2022. In their current role, Matthew is responsible for directing all functions of various departments and ensuring member experience objectives are met. Matthew also develops strategies for the credit union and enforces standards and policies related to the remote and digital member experience.
Matthew Gies completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration, General at Tiffin University, with an expected graduation year of 2023. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2013, they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Business from Spring Arbor University.
