Miriam Young has over 12 years of work experience in the tech and nonprofit sectors. Miriam began their career in 2008 as a Program and Fundraising Fellow at Taproot Foundation, a consultancy that connects nonprofits to skilled business volunteers. In 2009, they moved to Rotary International as a Humanitarian Grant Coordinator in Francophone Africa. Miriam returned to Taproot Foundation in 2010 as a Program Manager, overseeing 50 corporate volunteer teams on 9-12 month consulting projects, valued at $2.2 million in pro bono services. In 2012, they joined NPower NY as a Nonprofit Outreach & Engagement Manager, launching an online volunteer platform called The Community Corps and increasing user engagement by 50%. In 2014, they became the Head of Communications & Culture at DataKind, a data science consultancy for nonprofits, where they co-marketed with partners like Amnesty International, Microsoft and IBM. In 2020, they joined Unfolded as a Director of Communications, leading go-to-market efforts for the launch of Unfolded Studio. In 2021, they stepped into a Product Marketing Manager role at Foursquare focused both on the Unfolded platform and Foursquare's Places data product and API. Most recently, in 2022, Miriam became a Senior Product Marketing Manager at Disco and then a Product Marketing Manager at Hologram Inc., where they led GTM strategy and sales enablement for expansion into new industry verticals. Unfortunately, this role was eliminated during company-wide layoffs in June 2022.
Miriam Young attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they earned a B.A. in Commercial French/International Studies. Miriam then went on to pursue a Master of Fine Arts - MFA in Transdisciplinary Design from the Parsons School of Design - The New School.
