Michael Treacy has held a variety of roles in the tech industry since 2007. In 2007, they were an intern at the University of Washington's Department of Communication Media, where they researched and wrote technical tutorials for digital audio recorders, digital SLR cameras, and DV recorders. Michael also scoped, budgeted, designed, and installed a custom classroom podcasting solution.
In 2008, they worked as a Webcast Producer for Worktank, where they scheduled, produced, and recorded webcasts while managing and maintaining relationships with corporate client accounts.
From 2011 to 2015, they held various roles, including a Technical Publisher at Allyis, a Web Developer at Fifth Sun, and a Traveler/Web Developer. During this time, they also composed and produced the score for the independent feature film "Lauren is Missing".
In 2013, they worked as a Front End Developer at 11 Main, an Alibaba Group Company, where they worked closely with design and UX to implement dynamic, responsive ecommerce user interfaces.
Since 2018, they have been a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Discogs, where they have built many business-critical features and services to support an e-commerce marketplace. Michael designed and architected an async GraphQL API microservice to abstract out key functionality from a legacy monolith, implemented logic to do CRUD against sellers' shipping policies and calculate shipping prices, and employed principles of Clean Architecture to maximize scalability and maintainability.
Michael Treacy earned a BA in Communication from the University of Washington in 2007, and an AA in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from Seattle Central College.
